How To Fit Snoring Mouthpieces

There are dozens of snoring mouthpieces that are on the market – which you are able to use. Many of them are designed with a special molding that is fitted around the contours of the mouth. These will help to make it easy to use them no matter what type or size mouth that you have.

It is important that you understand how to fit these type of mouthpieces correctly. When you do even one step wrong you will shape them improperly or ruin the material. Be very careful during the process of shaping them because this is what will determine how well it will work and how comfortable it will be.

  • When fitting the snoring mouthpiece you will need to fill a small saucepan with water. Make sure it is enough water that will submerge the device completely. Heat the water up on the stove top until it starts to come to a good boil. Remove it from the heat when the boiling begins – but do not immediately put the mouthpiece inside.
  • Hold onto the tab that is on the edge of the device and place it into the hot water for around seven seconds or as recommended by the directions provided. This will help to soften the plastic and make it easy for you to mold it to your moth.
  • No part of the mouthpiece should touch the pan. Remove it from the water and shake off any excess water from it.
  • Face the device up and place it into your mouth. Move the lower jaw forward in a comfortable position and the bit into it. While biting down remember to suck the air from the mouthpiece and press your lips and tongue tightly against it. This will provide a custom – but tight fit. You can even use your fingers to help with this. To help keep the shape you need to place the mouthpiece in freezing cold water.
  • Repeat these steps as needed. Some mouthpieces will allow you to do this twice – but others will be damaged after more then one try.
