TAP Snoring Mouthpiece

The Thornton Adjustable Positioner – also known as the TAP snoring mouthpiece – is a type of mandibular advancement device that is used to treat people who snore or have sleep apnea. This two piece device is custom made to fit any mouth. It snaps firmly and comfortably together over the top and bottom teeth.

This looks and feels more like a sports mouth guard rather then your average snoring mouthpiece. Its function is to hold the jaw forward slightly to that the tongue and the soft tissues are not able to fall down the throat and obstruct the airways. Each individual user has the ability to adjust it to the lower jaw to make it both effective and comfortable for their particular mouth.

Over time the TAP snoring mouthpiece has evolved and newer and more effective devices have been designed and released. The newest is the TAP 3 – which allows people to have more room for the tongue to allow their mouth to close when sleeping. Most other types of snoring mouthpieces force the mouth to remain open.

Each device has been designed using the most advanced dental science and has been proven to eliminate snoring in nearly 95% of patients who have tried it. It is also effective at treating sleep apnea and reducing the health risks that may impact their lives without having to resort to surgery or expensive medication and medical equipment.

Each TAP snoring mouthpiece comes in a Class I, II, and III to accommodate the various mouth bites that people have. It will also help to increase the distance that is between both side of the jaw. However, before you decide to use the TAP mouthpiece you need to speak with your dentist and a trained sleep specialist. Because it is prescribed to you by your dentist it may cost you quite a bit of money – but insurance may be able to pay for most or all of it.

Customer Reviews

Pros: The majority of people who use the TAP snoring mouthpiece were pleased with how comfortable it was compared to the cheaper devices. The fact that they could adjust it to fit their mouth to make it more comfortable was a feature they loved.

Cons: Although it was not as uncomfortable as some other snoring mouthpieces it still took some people a little bit to get used to. They found that they kept waking up in the middle of the night because of it. However, if they kept using it every night they grew accustomed to it and that side effect was stopped.
