What Causes Snoring
Many of us snore when we are sleeping – but unless we are sharing the room with someone else we will never know about it. When we do it is usually our spouses or roommates who suffer most from it. While we are getting a good night’s sleep we are keeping them awake with the incessant and annoying noise that is coming from our nose and mouth.
To understand how snoring mouthpieces can help you to stop snoring you must first understand what causes snoring. Health experts agree that the majority of people who snore have excess amount of nasal and throat tissue that vibrates. It helps to know how we snore and what hereditary or health problems we might have to pinpoint exactly what is causing this problem in ourselves.
How You Snore
Mouth Closed - this is an indicator that your tongue is causing all of the problems.
Mouth Open – this is a sign that it is the floppy tissue in the back of your throat.
On Your Back - most likely you are a mild snorer and with better sleeping habits and a few changes in your lifestyle you will be cured.
Any Position – this is a sign that you have a more severe condition of snoring. If this is the case then you should speak with your doctor as it is a sign of a much deeper problem.
Hereditary And Medical Problems
Hereditary – if you have a narrow throat, cleft palate, enlarged adenoids, and other physical features that cause snoring that it is probably hereditary.
Middle Aged – as you get older your throat will become more narrow and the muscle tone will decrease. When this occurs the floppy tissue will develop or become worse.
Men – health experts agree that men are more likely to snore than women because they have narrower air passages.
Cold, Sinuses, Allergies – any condition that blocks the airways will make it difficult for people to inhale. When this happens the throat becomes like a vacuum and it will induce snoring.
Overweight – large amounts of fatty tissue causes poor muscle tone and will increase and cause snoring.
Smoking, Alcohol, Medicine – all of these will relax the muscles and cause you to snore even if you normally don’t.
